Cultivating Your Leadership Brand
Impactful leaders know ‘who they are’, ‘how they do what they do’, and ‘why they do what they do’. A ‘brand’ in the marketplace is a mark of distinction. This session is focused on participants developing their own ‘leadership brands’. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the values that drive them, their cause for action, and what makes them unique. We will discuss leadership perspectives, leadership behaviors, past / current leaders, and conduct an exercise guiding participants in drafting their own personal leadership image. (half day)
Leadership and Personal Insight
In this session, participants will first learn about leadership theory and what leadership styles exist and when they are most often effective. This will include such aspects as Servant Leadership, Authentic Leadership, Leadership Ethics, and others. Second, participants will learn about their natural management and leadership styles through a series of assessments and reflections that will help them gain an understanding of their own leadership style. This seminar provides the base for Leading Effective Organizations. (full day)
Excellence in Organizations
As Vince Lombardi said, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.” This session focuses on participants understanding how to lead an organization beyond effectiveness and toward excellence. We will explore aspects of organizational excellence, participant perspectives on excellence, organizations that are considered excellent and what makes them so, and what participants can do in their own organizations to attempt to achieve excellence. (full day)
Resolving Conflict in the Workplace
Conflict is inevitable in an ever-changing and diverse workplace. This session focuses on participants identifying their natural style in dealing with conflict, as well as learning about strategies to reduce conflict before it happens and constructively address conflict when it happens. Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in exercises that illustrate conflict and resolution strategies as well as discuss the specific workplace conflicts they are experiencing with an opportunity for all to offer advice. (half / full day)
Building and Sustaining Highly Effective Teams
This session focuses on strategies for enhancing team performance and facilitating interpersonal processes that lead to effective, creative, and ethical action. We will investigate the foundation of, and strategies for, building a highly effective team, sustaining that team’s performance, analyzing team function and decision making, and resolving conflict within a team, in order to empower the individuals and the team collective toward organizational success. (half / full day)
Managing for Service Excellence
This session focuses on managing the service aspect of an organization. Topics discussed include characteristics of excellent service, service ‘arenas’, team member assessment, and strategies to improve service on both the individual and organizational levels. (full day)
Communication Strategies for Success
This session focuses on participants learning about the complexities of communication in a diverse workplace. Topics discussed include effective communication strategies, channels, ‘noise’ as well as participants gaining an understanding of their own natural style of communication. (full day)
Increasing Your Emotional Intelligence
This session offers participants two main takeaways: (1) an opportunity to learn the aspects of what Emotional Intelligence entails, and (2) strategies for how strengthen their skills in each of the five main competencies. In this session, participants will identify consequences of unmanaged emotions to their personal effectiveness; describe the importance of emotional intelligence to building good relationships; ways to increase their empathy and social skills; practice techniques to achieve greater self-awareness, self-control, and self-motivation; and understand how emotional intelligence can be applied at the workplace to enhance employee relationships and increase productivity
Motivating Employees to Superior Performance
This session focuses on participants gaining an understanding of what drives employee motivation in the workforce. We will explore foundations of motivation, external influencers toward employee performance and what managers can do to assist employees in performing at their best. Participants will also take an assessment to reveal their natural style of influence and how others in the workplace see them. (full day)
Dealing with Difficult People
This session builds on the lessons learned in the session Resolving Conflict in the Workplace and focuses on specific types of difficult people found in many workplaces. Topics include difficult people ‘profiles’, what not to do, and specific strategies on handling difficult people for your success. (full day)
Handling Difficult Conversations
Whether it is addressing a performance issue or a behavioral issue, letting employees know that they are struggling to perform is difficult. This session focuses on how to have those difficult conversations in a positive and productive way that leaves everyone feeling ok about moving forward. (full day)
Elements of Strategy
What is strategy? Given all the research, why do so many organizations continue to bungle their ability to achieve / maintain a competitive advantage? In this session, I will offer a unique perspective on how your organization can reexamine its own value proposition, and better deploy its resources toward achieving or maintaining a competitive advantage in its marketplace.
Time Management for Busy Professionals
Do you wake up already behind schedule? Are there never enough hours in the day? Do you “crash” at the end of seemingly every work day? In this session, I will offer strategies for how you can better manage your time and energy towards being effective and efficient, while staying engaged.
Negotiating to Win-Win
Negotiations exist everywhere, not just in formal situations. This session focuses on: how to identify the type of negotiation you are engaged in, what your natural style is when faced with a situation that requires negotiation, and how to navigate various situations so that everyone involved walks away feeling like a winner.
